ICT

ICT and new media play an important economic role in the Amsterdam region. The region is the ICT centre of the Netherlands and is known for its unique mix of creativity, commerce, easy accessibility and international orientation. In addition, it is also the biggest Internet junction in the world; which explains why the AMS-IX is located here.

In 2008, AIM collaborated with Economic Affairs (EZ) Amsterdam to set up the ICT cluster. The purpose of the cluster is to organise regular meetings between ICT companies, knowledge institutions and government with the aim of further consolidating the ICT sector in the region.

The ICT cluster forms the core of the ICT activities in AIM and is responsible for generating new projects. Currently, for example, it is in the process of setting up new projects for flexible work, healthcare and eGovernment. The stakeholders also cooperate in attracting and retaining talent; which is an important theme in the ICT sector.
